We also address the security requirements that come with them, from firmware validation and network isolation to the removal of wireless hardware, and we document the work for your review process. How we work
Equipment we operate ourselves
We carry systems across FDM, resin, metal, waterjet, CNC, and laser, and we run them in our own facility. The Lake Forest showroom operates the machines we recommend, so you can evaluate one in person, with the engineer who supports it, before committing to a purchase.

Evaluated by our engineers
Our engineering and support staff run the machines and materials we recommend. Guidance comes from people who have produced parts on the equipment, not from a specification sheet. Anything we would not run on our own floor does not make it into the catalog.

Materials we manufacture
PRO Series, MH Build Series, and ThriftyMake are formulated and manufactured by MatterHackers rather than resold. PRO Series is engineered for functional and end-use parts, holds a ±0.02mm diameter tolerance, and is made in the USA.

Nearly every product carries a 30-day return policy. If a machine turns out to be wrong for the application, it can go back. We would rather place the correct system than close the sale in front of us.

Installation, training, and service
Hardware is the beginning of a deployment, not the end of one. Our services team handles installation, operator training, preventive maintenance, service contracts, repair, and design for additive manufacturing consulting.

Support is staffed by engineers and technicians who work with these systems every day. The person who takes your call has printed with the material you are asking about. Phones are open Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Origin
The software came first
MatterHackers was founded by three people who had been building 3D printers at home and kept encountering the same limitation: the hardware was improving faster than the software controlling it.
Their first product was not a storefront. It was MatterControl, an application that took a designer from model to finished part without moving between three or four separate programs. MatterControl Touch followed, adding onboard slicing and connectivity so a printer no longer required a tethered computer. That work continues today in MatterCAD.
Reduce the friction between an idea and a finished part. That remains the clearest description of what we do.
More than a decade later, the part in question may be a prototype housing or a flight-critical aerospace component. The objective has not changed, and neither has the habit of building the tools we wanted to exist.
