FAQ
Do you offer training and installation services for Markforged machines and software?
Yes! We can arrange training, installation, and more. Please reach out to support@matterhackers.com for more information.
Can I use third-party materials with Markforged desktop 3D printers?
It is not recommended to use materials outside of Markforged to print on these machines. Markforged's filaments are developed, tested, and manufactured by them specifically to create a complete system of materials and machines to ensure your parts meet the expected professional quality and performance.
What support materials can I use on a Markforged desktop 3D printer?
Use the same material used for your part. Eiger, Markforged's proprietary 3D printing software included with every Markforged 3D printer, automatically creates the supports. The supports that are generated and produced are easily removed by hand or with small needle nose pliers.
Which slicers are compatible with Markforged 3D printers?
Eiger, Markforged's self-developed 3D printing software, ensures your prototyping, fixturing, and end-use parts production workflow is intuitive and efficient.
Do I have to pay for an Eiger subscription?
No. Eiger (Basic) is free and available with every Markforged 3D printer.
- For additional features and perks, a paid subscription will be required at higher tiers. Reach out to support@matterhackers.com if you need other requirements such as an offline software workflow or additional management tools.
What's the heated bed temperature on the Markforged desktop 3D printers?
The Markforged desktop 3D printers do not have heated beds (or heated chambers). These machines are fully enclosed and the heat emanating from the hotend work together to create the right environment for your parts to be produced in.
Do Markforged composite desktop 3D printers require ventilation?
No.
Why should I consider using fiber infill?
Combining continuous fiber infill with additive FDM technology allows you to create strong, stiff parts that are lightweight and have the additional benefits of being able to be produced at a relatively affordable cost and on-the-fly, quick turnaround from your benchtop.
Is maintenance required for Markforged 3D printers?
Like any machine, Markforged requires periodic maintenance to ensure peak operation. This includes but is not limited to standard procedures such as changing the tubes and the print nozzles for each material, keeping the machine clean, cleaning (and re-gluing) the bed after each print, and tensioning the belts when.
- Perk with Markforged: The printer will track and remind you when you need to perform maintenance!
