PLA 3D prints with a beautiful metallic finish
MatterHackers Metallic PRO Series PLA is available in Bronze, Gold, and Silver! This is a non-filled, 100% PLA filament, so you get a beautiful metallic shine without wearing down your brass nozzle like you would with metal-filled PLA's.
1 Kg (2.2 lbs) spool of 1.75mm metallic Silver PRO Series PLA filament. All PRO Series filament is vacuum sealed with desiccant for storage and freshness.
PLA, aka Polylactic Acid, is a multipurpose material commonly used in 3D printing. PLA is a bioplastic, which means it is made from renewable natural resources such as corn starch and tapioca products. As a biodegradable material, it is much better for the environment, especially compared to petrochemical-based alternatives (such as ABS).
Our PLA is compatible with nearly all 3D printers, including RepRap derivatives and those from MakerBot, Ultimaker, Bits from Bytes, Airwolf3D, Makergear, Printrbot, Bukobot, Type A Machines, and many others.
At MatterHackers, we prefer PLA as our default printing material due to its high strength and minimal warping.

Questions
I am interested in purchasing the Metallic Pro Series Silver but would like to see a sample before I make the purchase since it is a bit more expensive. Is that something you would do?
Do you have any materials that are thermally conductive? I am trying to build a block for a microscope with 2 heaters at the ends to get a temperature gradient across the block. (T-range 20C-50C)
Hello I know that your PRO series is made for precision 3D printing but just wondering about impact toughness and if its compatible/better than ABS with high-temp resistance. Basically is it engineering grade? Thank you
Is there supposed to be shiny streaks and inconsistencies throughout the filament? Not sure why, but it's throughout the entire spool of filament. It's looks like some kind of stress mark? Did I get a defective product or is this normal?
Do you have any other photos of a print in this color? How much brighter/more vibrant is it than the Standard Silver (Pro and Regular PLA)? I was not too happy with the Bronze as it was allot darker than it looked in the product photo.
Do you have a material that has a chrome like finish?
Due to the nature of FFF printing, the individual layers stacking up will not allow for a Chrome like finish, regardless of the initial color on the roll of filament.
