MatterHackers Quantum - Calibration Coin

the filament is just like any other filament regarding estep calibration. This coin will show you where the 2 colors of the filament line up after it is extruded. Then you can rotate you .stl file in your slicer app to line up where you want each of the dual colors

if you are just doing a circle that is exactly what you would expect to happen one color on each side. It does not change colors by the extrusion amount it changes by the extrusion angle. The coin is supposed to help you figure out at what angle it will change color on your printer, you then orient your part to put that color-change line where you want it.

Think of the filament as two colors split down its length so the angle the print head moves will determine which side of the filament faces out.

That's exactly why this filament is cool. It changes colors with different angles you print at. It doesn't change colors like a chameleon car paint job. I wish it could do that but they haven't figured that one out yet.

Yes, this is designed so that you may get a visual representation of how the color split is being extruded on your machine with any given spool of Quantum. You may adjust the orientation of your model accordingly if you desire a perfect split down the center of your model.

Probably a twist in the filament, if you accidentally unspooled a small bit and didn't wrap it back right, you could have twisted it a bit. If you did it over hand like a rope, it would twist, if you rotated the spool and let the filament slide back onto it in from straight out, it should be fine.
