Install a 3D Printed Tap Sensor Kit on Your Voron 2.4 or 2.4 R2
This comprehensive set of printed ABS parts enables you to install a Tap sensor kit on your Voron 2.4 or 2.4 R2 3D Printer, whether you've self-sourced your hardware or purchased a Voron Tap Hardware kit from MatterHackers. The Tap sensor is a valuable upgrade from the standard inductive Z-Probe, as it is not susceptible to failure due to heat cycling. Please note that the Tap Kit can only be installed on a Voron 2.4 with a single MGN12 X-Axis configuration, and not the older dual MGN9 configuration.
Included in this kit are all the parts from the Voron and Tap GitHub repositories, even though some parts may not be needed for the available hardware kits or depending on your chosen installation pathway. There are three different sensor mount types, so not every part will be used. All parts are printed in ABS according to Voron's recommended slice settings, with everything in black, including the STL listed as an accent color.

Nozzle-based Z-probing
The Voron Tap Kit upgrade offers an alternative Z-probe sensor method for the Voron 2.4R2 and Voron Trident 3D printers. Utilizing a rail, magnets, and a sensor, the entire toolhead moves to trigger an optical switch.
Key Features of the Voron Tap Kit:
- Measures your Z position with a precision of 0.4 μm (0.0004mm)
- Compatible with any build surface, reducing the need to recalibrate after changing nozzles or build plates
- Safely operates at temperatures up to 100°C and does not degrade over time like contact switches or inductive probes
- Employs a single 'activate_gcode' macro in the [probe] configuration for consistent probing temperatures
- Breaks away during extreme crashes, preventing further damage to other components
- Protects the nozzle and bed from minor crashes
- Eliminates the need for a separate Z endstop
