What's the Workflow for 3D Printing Investment Casting Patterns?
3D printed patterns are transforming investment casting, superseding wax molds to deliver complex forms and accelerated design processes without dedicated equipment.
To create a 3D printed pattern, the process typically looks like the following:
- Shell, lattice, and add drain holes to the part with a tool like Materialise Magics or Formware
- Orient, support, and slice the pattern in PreForm
- Print the pattern
- Wash, post-cure, and remove supports
- Plug any drain holes with wax or cure a small amount of Clear Cast Resin over the hole
- Attach the pattern to a casting tree and proceed with the rest of the casting process

How do you change the temp setting from Celsius to Fahrenheit on the temp/humidity sensor?
Has anyone sourced good 60mm fans for the 2 rear openings?
Would this works to control fumes for a resin printer
Does an Ender 3 Pro with 3DFused.com linear rail kits (x,y,z all linear rails) fit into this enclosure??? I would want away to mount the electronics box, The LCD screen and the power supply outside the enclosure
I am missing the instructions to put this together and whatever hardware is necessary to mount the small side door on the upper left
Does filament feed from a spool holder outside the enclosure? Are their knockouts/cutouts for PTFE tubes or proper fittings?
The photos are quite dark. Can some higher resolution and better exposed photos be posted so we can see the interior more clearly?
I'm looking for the shape files for the parts to mount the control panel on the front of the enclosure. The instructions mention this.
Would a MatterHackers PrintDry system stack on top to feed filament? It seems like a very compact solution to keep in one area on a lab desk both the dry filament spools and the printer in a safe enclosure.
Would this enclosure fit a Prusa i3 mk3s? The black design is a lot nicer than the typical Prusa printer enclosures and better than DIY.
Does this isolate the electronics from the enclosure or are they being cooked inside?
does this allow stacking of printers, right on top of the enclosure?
Can you add a HEPA filter?
Not without modification.
Also, you would want to use a decent size activated filter anyways, the HEPA would help but isn't made to pick up most of the tiny particles that activated carbon would. Even then, if you are printing ABS, ASA, Nylon, etc. you won't want it in an area that you spend a bunch of time in without a filtration system that vents the particles outside.
