5 Materials We’re Exited About Right Now
The Pros at MatterHackers have our printers running constantly - here are the materials that we’ve been using recently for ongoing projects.
When it comes to 3D printer filament, MatterHackers has you covered. With over 2,000 materials and color options available, you can find everything that you need. In this article, we want to show you what the team has been printing recently - here are 5 materials that we're using and that you should check out for you next project.
1. Parthenon Gray Marble PRO Series PLA Filament
Rhonda chose MatterHackers PRO Series Parthenon Gray Marble PLA to give a work-in-progress fantasy football trophy a different look. Sadly, the original trophy for her league was lost after a few years, but thanks to 3D printing, it's easy to replicate and upgrade.
PRO Series PLA is made in the USA and formulated for reliable and repeatable results. You can learn more about PRO Series PLA, check out all the color options available, and pick some up for yourself here.
2. BASF Ultrafuse Stainless Steel Filament
Dave has been printing some massive bottle openers and some other functional parts using BASF Ultrafuse 316L stainless steel filament. This material is super cool - it's real metal that you can print on any desktop 3d printer with the right equipment. Once your part is done printing, you send it out for the debonding and sintering process, and voilà - your metal part is shipped back to you a few weeks later. It's that easy to start printing with metal.

3. Proto-Pasta Simply Black Recycled PETG Filament
Vanessa is printing components for a GoPro Bike Mount using Proto-Pasta's Simply Black Recycled PETG Filament. PETG was a great option for this because it's easy to print and sturdy, so it will stand up to tough bike trails.
Explore all Proto-Pasta materials here. You can also find the bike mount model designed by HamburgCNC that she used here.
4. PRO Series Tough PLA
Dylan modeled and printed a new base for a lava lamp that's in the MatterHackers Studio. He used PRO Series Tough PLA for its top-quality color, ease of use, and heat tolerance that's comparable to ABS filament.

5. Fillamentum Timberfill Light Wood Tone Filament
Fernando runs a small business side hustle making a bunch of different plant accessories and hangers. This one is printed in Fillamentum Timberfill wood filament to give it a natural aesthetic that pairs nicely with air plants.
